IAHN GDE PUDJA MATARAM STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP WITH DHYAN FOUNDATION THROUGH INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION

West Lombok, Indonesia – In celebration of the International Day of Yoga, the IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, joined hands with Dhyan Foundation to host a special yoga gathering under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Aging.” The event took place on Sunday, 21 June 2026, at Wantilan Pura Suranadi, West Lombok, bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds and nationalities. The program formed part of the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions and attracted academics, students, members of the Dhyan Foundation community, and members of the public interested in holistic health and spiritual well-being.

Speaking at the event, Rector of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Wirata, A.Ma., S.E., M.Si., M.Pd., emphasized that yoga extends far beyond physical exercise. He highlighted yoga as a comprehensive way of life capable of nurturing physical vitality, mental resilience, and spiritual growth, particularly as individuals advance in age. According to him, sustained yoga practice can significantly enhance quality of life and help older adults remain active and productive.

Representing Dhyan Foundation, yoga instructor Mahima Jaini introduced participants to the philosophical foundations of the organization, which are rooted in the principle of Ahimsa (non-violence) under the guidance of Ashwini Guru Ji. She explained how the teachings of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali serve as the cornerstone of Dhyan Foundation’s approach to yoga and holistic living. Mahima further elaborated that the organization translates yogic principles into practical initiatives, including yoga and meditation training, dissemination of Vedic and yogic philosophy, social service activities, animal rescue and protection programs, health and wellness initiatives, and Vedic martial arts training. These initiatives, she noted, demonstrate that yoga is not confined to practice on the mat but should be reflected in everyday interactions with people, animals, and the environment.

The celebration continued with guided sessions of yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation led by Mahima Jaini. Participants enthusiastically engaged in every session, creating an atmosphere of serenity, enthusiasm, and shared learning. Among the participants was lecturer IBM Arjana, who underscored the importance of regular yoga practice in supporting both physical activities and spiritual development. He encouraged the community to adopt yoga as a daily lifestyle and invited those interested to participate in weekly practice sessions organized by the Dhyan Gandari community at Pura Kaweri, Narmada.

Throughout the event, the warm interaction among participants from various cultural and social backgrounds highlighted yoga’s enduring role as a bridge for intercultural understanding and harmonious coexistence. The program also reaffirmed IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram’s commitment to advancing holistic education, spirituality, and community engagement through international partnerships.
